Description

The Appliance and Electromechanical Equipment Repair Program at Ideal Institute of Technology is a 1125-clock-hour hands-on training program designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in residential, commercial, and smart appliance repair. This program provides comprehensive instruction in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining modern appliances and electromechanical systems, including loT-enabled devices and commercial-grade HVAC systems. In addition to technical training, the program includes entrepreneurial guidance to help students start and operate their own repair businesses. Students can also gain valuable real-world experience through a Paid Work-Based Learning Opportunity, building both confidence and a professional portfolio.


Program Outline

This program is delivered in five 225-clock-hour courses that equip students with foundational through advanced technical and business skills:

  • CE510: Foundations of Appliance Repair
    Learn the basics of appliance operation, common faults, tool usage, safety protocols, and repair techniques for standard home appliances.
  • CE520: Electromechanical Systems
    Gain an understanding of electrical circuits, motors, sensors, mechanical components, and how these systems interact in appliances and equipment.
  • CE530: Advanced Residential Appliance & IoT Repair
    Work with smart appliances, embedded systems, and internet-connected devices. Learn how to troubleshoot advanced features and software-based faults.
  • CE540: Commercial Equipment, HVAC & Controls
    Develop expertise in repairing commercial kitchen equipment, laundry machines, HVAC systems, and control panels used in retail, hospitality, and industrial settings.
  • CE550: Smart Systems, Diagnostics & Capstone
    Focus on advanced diagnostics, system integration, and business readiness. Complete a real-world capstone project and prepare for certification exams and service entrepreneurship.

Certificates

Graduates will receive the Appliance and Electromechanical Equipment Repair Certificate and be prepared to pursue industry-recognized certifications, including:
